Biblical Context
Jerusalem's distress is shown as an outward sign of inner rebellion; the people cry for comfort, yet none can be found, while the text affirms God's justice and calls all to witness sorrow.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Neville reading, Zion spreading her hands is the mind reaching for relief outside of itself, a sign that the state of consciousness has forgotten its inner sovereignty. The exile and the encircling adversaries are not fate but the contest of thoughts that keep you identified with limitation. When the verse says The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against His commandment, it is a confession that your present feeling of separation is a choice you have made in consciousness, now ripe for revision. The capture of the virgins and the young men stands for energies and enthusiasms that have been diverted by doubt into captivity; they long to be restored to life within your awareness. The remedy is to return to your inner center and claim alignment with the I AM, acknowledging that justice and order reside there. If you revise the scene in imagination, you can see the exiles returning and the city rebuilt in your mind, signifying your new state becoming form. This is not judgment but the natural result of consenting to a higher state of awareness.
Practice This Now
Assume you are now in Zion within your mind. Repeat I am comforted; I am whole; my exiles return to rest in my awareness until the feeling of wholeness anchors in.
