Biblical Context
Israel forgot the LORD after being delivered from their enemies; the verse highlights a lapse in remembrance of God who protected them.
Neville's Inner Vision
Judges 8:34 presents a simple scene: the people tasted deliverance and then turned their attention away from the Source of that power. In the language of the inner self, forgetfulness is not a historical fault but a shift in consciousness: the I AM becomes momentarily dim, the imagination forgets its own creative power, and the sense of covenant loyalty dissolves into routine. You are the one who did the delivering in your own inner world, by the assumption that God is present and available now. When you “remember not,” you are temporarily identifying with a state of separation, with fear and friction, and you project that as the world of enemies on every side. But you can reverse this by returning to the awareness that the LORD is your life, your first and last source. Make your next moment an act of remembrance: feel the gratitude that arises when you know you are under divine governance. Rehearse the feeling of fidelity to that inner king, and watch the apparent external conditions align with your renewed awareness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the presence of the LORD in your life now; revise the scene to remember and feel covenant loyalty as real in this moment. Close your eyes, breathe, and let the feeling of divine support settle in.
