The Inner Sign Of Presence
Judges 6:17-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Gideon asks for proof that the Lord is speaking with him and urges the divine presence to stay long enough to receive his offering. It is a moment of yearning for intimate, assured communion.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this brief scene, the Lord within you is not a distant judge but the I AM—the constant awareness through which you imagine and are. Gideon’s request for grace and a sign is really a request for inner assurance that you are in direct dialogue with your own divine state. The “sign” is not an external miracle but a felt confirmation that the present moment and your assumed state are aligned with the conversation of the I AM. The offering (the present) symbolizes your readiness to host that presence in consciousness, to honor it with attention and belief. “Depart not hence” becomes your insistence to remain in the consideration of this state, while “I will tarry until thou come again” mirrors the discipline of staying with the feeling of being spoken to until the inner argument of your life confirms it. When grace is entertained as your natural condition, your thoughts shift, your world reflects that inner dialogue, and you recognize you have been talking with God—your I AM—all along.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, 'I have found grace in your sight; show me the sign that we converse.' Then sit in quiet until a felt sense or symbolic sign confirms the dialogue, and revise your sense of self to live from that inner conversation.
