Judges 21:22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Judges 21 in context

Scripture Focus

22And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty.
Judges 21:22

Biblical Context

The verse depicts a plan to appease critics by claiming shared responsibility for not giving each man his wife during war, in order to preserve the tribe's unity. It highlights accountability, unity, and the community's priority over individual grievance.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the inner theater, the fathers and brethren symbolize the lingering voices of past conditions—the fears and obligations you carry as the old self. Their coming to complain is the appearance of future objections that would block your chosen end. The statement 'Be favorable unto them for our sakes' is a mental posture rather than a policy: you choose to let the entire inner kingdom regard your decision with grace, affirming that harmony is the natural result when you hold your state as complete. By saying 'we reserved not to each man his wife in the war,' you acknowledge your inner completion—your inner marriage to the state you desire—so guilt cannot cling, because you are not acting from lack or fear but from wholeness. This is covenant loyalty: staying true to your inner truth and allowing the inner community to reflect unity. The outer event then arises from the inward assumption. When you treat imagination as law, you arrange harmony through the very objection that once seemed to block it, and you discover you have already won the end within.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In a moment of stillness, assume the feeling I am unity; objections dissolve. Then imagine telling the inner voices Be favorable unto them for our sakes, and revise a current challenge as already resolved in your consciousness.
