Biblical Context
God's command is clear: do not ally with the land's inhabitants and tear down their altars; the voice of obedience was not heeded.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here, the 'land' and its inhabitants are not distant people but states of consciousness you entertain. To 'make no league' with them is to refuse binding yourself to any thought or habit that keeps you divided from the I AM. To 'throw down their altars' is to dismantle the old images you worship in place of God—the opinions, fears, desires, and identities that pretend to rule your life. When you hear 'my voice' yet act as if another power speaks, you have not obeyed the inner ruler; you have allowed alien divinities into your temple. The command is not a historical injunction but a practical reminder: your imagination is the throne of God, and unity is your natural state. If you assume the within to be wholly loyal to the I AM, the outer world shifts to reflect that inner loyalty. The moment you revise from division to oneness, you stop feeding the old altars and begin feeding the living Presence.
Practice This Now
Practice: Assume you are already in perfect covenant with the I AM; declare aloud, 'I have no alliance with any idol; I am loyal to the voice within.' Then feel the reality by closing your eyes and imagining the altars dissolving into light.
