Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
A generation arises that does not know the LORD or His works. They turn to Baalim and the gods of the surrounding peoples, forsaking the LORD and provoking His anger.
Neville's Inner Vision
Judges 2:10–13 speaks as a map of inner states. The generation that did not know the LORD represents a moment in consciousness when awareness forgets its own works and bows to imagined powers. The Baalim, Baal, and Ashtaroth are not distant idols but inner idols—fears, appetites, and habits that seem to rule you when you forget who you are. By following these inner gods you provoke the I AM within you to react as though it were angered by your forgetfulness. The scene invites a revision: you are not bound to a looping cycle but can awaken the memory of the LORD within, recall the works done in your life, and restore loyalty to the one God of your mind. The path is inward: cease conceding to impulses that claim sovereignty, and practice the imaginative act that you are now the guardian of this inner covenant. When you return to the LORD as your I AM, the old generation dissolves and a new one—attuned to divine works—arises.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the LORD is crowned in your mind; feel the inner works as already done. Then revise every competing impulse by affirming your I AM, and let that conviction govern your days.
