Samson prays to the LORD for strength. He grabs the two middle pillars, and the house collapses, killing many Philistines—Samson dies in the act.
Neville's Inner Vision
Judges 16:28–30 is a study in the waking of consciousness. The Lord is the I AM within you; Samson’s cry for remembrance and strength is the turning of attention to the inner power that always stands ready. The pillars are the two poles of your mind—one holding fear, the other clinging to belief—that when gripped with unwavering awareness cause the entire structure of limitation to bow. By seeking strength in that moment, you are calling for a decisive, all-in conviction that dissolves the old dependency on external conditions. The act of grasping the middle pillars is the inner act of aligning those poles with the I AM, not merely toppling a building but collapsing the mental framework that supports the old identity. The line about the greater number of dead at his death becomes a paradox: when you refuse to identify with the old self, a greater effect arises, and your life is governed by the power you always possessed but had not yet trusted. Deliverance thus comes not by changing others but by awakening to your I AM and acting from that certainty.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and imagine standing before two pillars in your mind, affirm I AM strength, and feel the pillars lean and collapse as your life moves into deliverance.
