Biblical Context
Samson seeks a wife from outside his people's circle, provoking his parents and the covenant's boundaries. The scene marks the clash between personal craving and communal or spiritual allegiance.
Neville's Inner Vision
To stand in the I Am is to see that every desire is a signal of the state you inhabit. In this verse, the 'Philistines' are not enemies out there but the mind's inclination to seek pleasure outside the inner covenant. When Samson says, 'Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well,' he is teaching us how the self can mistake attachment for truth, treating a fleeting feeling as the sole ruler of reality. The parents' question echoes your inner counsel: Are you willing to cross the boundary of your true state for a momentary excitement? Neville would say: your life mirrors your inner state; the outer world is simply the image of your dominant assumption. To change the scene, you revise your assumption: I am wed to the I AM within, and my desires align with that covenant. The 'uncircumcised' designation becomes a reminder to remove the barrier of illusion between you and the living presence of God within. The remedy is a felt sense of divine partnership, not a chasing of a person or image. The inner covenant is faithful; the outer world follows.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, revise the moment by affirming the inner state as your true covenant. Feel now that you are wed to the I AM within; allow that feeling to govern your desires rather than the lure of outer appearances.
