Biblical Context
Samson tells his parents he has seen a Philistine woman and asks them to obtain her as his wife; his parents question whether there isn’t a suitable daughter among his own people.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Judges account, the outer scene of a young man choosing a bride is only a mirror of an inner decision. Your inner Samson is a desire, a driving impulse seeking embodiment in form. The Philistine field in Timnath stands for a state of consciousness unfamiliar to your own flame of loyalty. The father and mother voices are your inner law and tradition, the religious and familial I AM that asks, Is this the right covenant for you? When Samson says Get her for me, he reveals how belief and feeling can coerce the I AM into obedience to a transient impulse. Now the true teaching: the one who governs the inner scene is not appetite but alignment to a higher covenant within you. The way to peace is not denial but revision to imagine that the desired scene already harmonizes with your innermost law and is welcomed by your inner family. By assuming the end in present consciousness, you dissolve the conflict and make obedience and desire one thing: your elevation.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and identify a current inner impulse. Repeat, I am the I AM, and revise the scene so this impulse is already in harmony with your covenant; feel it as real now.
