Biblical Context
Jephthah vows that, if delivered, whatever comes out of the doors of his house to greet him will be the LORD's and offered as a burnt offering.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Judges narrative, the vow is not a mere historical occurrence but a map of your inner life. You declare from your present state of awareness that the next event which greets you will be the LORD's and set aside for the higher purpose of your consciousness. The deliverance from Ammon signifies a shift in your own mind, a release in your inner air from conflict. The 'whatever cometh forth of the doors of my house' is the symbol of the next experience arising from your current state of I AM; when you say it shall be the LORD's, you are aligning your outer scene with the inner image you hold. The burnt offering becomes a symbolic surrender of an old self and an invitation to the new image you choose. The drama teaches that events mirror your inner state, and your task is to refine your consciousness until the outer world reflects your internal covenant. Your imagination is the altar, your I AM the priest, and your future is already present in your awareness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled; imagine the thing that greets you at the door as already consecrated to the I AM, and feel it real for one minute.
