Jerusalem Within: Inner Conquest

Judges 1:21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Judges 1 in context

Scripture Focus

21And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.
Judges 1:21

Biblical Context

Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites; they dwelt in Jerusalem with him. This mirrors the inner life, where certain thoughts and attachments linger, keeping the mind divided.

Neville's Inner Vision

Benjamin is the steadfast self, a state of consciousness that says I AM; the Jebusites are lingering beliefs and attachments you tolerate within the mind. If they dwell with Benjamin, inner Jerusalem remains disputed; the I AM is not yet fully king. The story is a psychology of consciousness, not a geography lesson. To heal it you do not battle outer events; you revise the inner premise until the one reality remains. Imagine the inner city already governed completely by the I AM, where no foreign power can remain to claim Jerusalem as its own. Observe that the problem arises from tolerating a coexistence in presence, which seeds friction between what you affirm and what you permit. The practice is to assume a full conquest, to feel the city as holy, to feel that the I AM has driven out every cherished tenant. If you must, treat the Jebusites as shadows dissolving in light, or as beliefs you have chosen to transfer to alignment under your reign.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise: I AM Jerusalem, wholly governed; every foreign thought is conquered. Feel the shift as if the city is already at peace, and you are its king.
