Biblical Context
Jude warns that some believers slip in quietly, perverting grace and denying Christ; he recalls God’s deliverance of Israel and punishment for unbelief, and notes that angels who abandoned their station face eternal judgment.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me, Jude's verses are a map of the mind. The 'certain men' are beliefs that have crept into consciousness unseen—old habits ordained to this condemnation—that turn grace into an excuse for self-will and deny the indwelling I AM. The 'Egypt' delivered from bondage is the moment grace liberates me from fear, yet some disbelief remains that would rebind me to old stories. The angels who kept not their first estate are higher faculties—faith, intuition, courage—that I must keep within their appointed order; when I ignore them, they fall into darkness, awaiting the day I reestablish their use. The 'great day' of judgment is not future doom but the present moment when I re-erect my state by assuming and feeling the truth of my inseparable oneness with God. Remembering this, I am invited to revise, to dwell in the awareness of grace realized, here now, and let every thought move toward the I AM with power and gentleness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume you are the I AM in charge of your mind; revise a lingering belief of lack by replacing it with 'I am grace realized now.' Then feel the truth of that state as present experience.
