Compassion as Inner Rescue

Jude 1:22-23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jude 1 in context

Scripture Focus

22And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Jude 1:22-23

Biblical Context

Jude contrasts mercy that makes a difference with fear-based rescue. It speaks of helping others and pulling them from danger, while warning against hardened judgment.

Neville's Inner Vision

See this not as a distant exhortation but as a map of your inner states. 'Compassion, making a difference' is simply you occupying the state of mercy, aware of the others as already whole in your mind. When you 'save with fear,' you project danger and separation, which only reinforces their struggle. The 'fire' is inner conviction burning away what is not true; your role is not to force but to hold a steady conscious atmosphere in which healing can occur. The 'garment spotted by the flesh' points to outward forms and fears; you treat them with detachment, not disdain, because appearances do not define the soul. The inner practice is to dwell in mercy as your permanent state—knowing that you are the I AM that perceives; through your imagination, others become aware of their safety. Thus, the act of saving is an act of consciousness, not a deed performed by effort. When you assume mercy as your reality, you align your entire seeing with wholeness, and the world must reflect this renewed state.

Practice This Now

Choose one person in need of help. Imagine you already hold the mercy that saves them; feel the truth of their safety as your own state, and quietly dwell in that feeling for a few minutes.
