Inner Covenant Awakening

Joshua 7:11-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Joshua 7 in context

Scripture Focus

11Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.
12Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.
13Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.
Joshua 7:11-13

Biblical Context

Israel sinned by taking the accursed thing and disobeying God's covenant. Because of that, they could not stand against their enemies until they removed the accursed among them.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within your consciousness, 'Israel' stands as the citizen of your inner land—the part of you that faces every trial. When you harbor a 'forbidden' belief—the sense that some aspect of you is separate from God—you break the covenant of your I AM and invite a form of spiritual stagnation. The accursed thing is not a thing at all but a belief, a thought-seed of lack, shame, or separation lodged among your mental furniture. This belief disarms your true defense and makes you feel distant from your enemies, which are really your life-challenges. The command to 'sanctify the people' is a call to cleanse attention, to set apart thoughts and feelings from the trauma of belief in separation. When you recognize the accursed belief and renounce it, you remove the block that prevented your standing in power. You then discover that the enemies you faced were never outside but within—your misidentifications about who you are in God. As you revise and align with your I AM, you stand firm, free from the curse, and your life flows with rightful victory.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Assume the true identity of I AM, and revise away the belief there is an accursed thing in you; you are whole, one with God. Feel this truth until it becomes your immediate experience.
