The Inner Jericho Awakening

Joshua 6:23-27 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Joshua 6 in context

Scripture Focus

23And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.
24And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.
25And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
27So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.
Joshua 6:23-27

Biblical Context

Spies bring Rahab and her family out of Jericho, and the city is burned with its precious wealth sent to the house of the LORD. Joshua saves Rahab’s household, and they dwell among Israel, while a curse is pronounced on rebuilding Jericho, and the LORD’s presence remains with Joshua.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jericho is the fortress you carry in the mind. The spies are your attention venturing inward to bring out Rahab—the faith that hides the messengers of truth until you are ready to acknowledge them. Rahab’s family and all she has are the habits, memories, and ideas that cling to your old security; when they are brought into the open, you invite the new order to inhabit your life. The burning of the city signals the passing away of the old pattern; yet the treasury of the LORD receives the gold and silver, the vessels of brass and iron, as your realized values—thoughts and feelings you now dedicate to the divine within you. Joshua is the I AM, the living Presence you stand with in this moment; with this awareness, your fame—your inner recognition—travels the land. Rahab’s salvation shows the new state can dwell within the mind alongside the old, provided you acknowledge it as part of you. The curse against rebuilding Jericho warns you not to revive the old self-image, and to keep your present consciousness anchored in the victory you’ve already claimed. You become the witness of a compatible inner order, and life reflects that alignment to your perception.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, breathe, and revise: 'The walls of Jericho in my mind are fallen; Rahab’s faith now guards the messengers of truth, and the treasures of realized awareness flow into the LORD’s treasury within me.' Then rest in the felt sense of that state as your new default.
