Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Joshua 6:17-19 declares the city and its wealth accursed to the LORD, with Rahab spared for hiding the messengers. It commands separation from the accursed and consecration of the silver, gold, and vessels to the LORD.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the vantage of consciousness, the city is your present state, and the ban is a disciplined boundary you set within the mind. Rahab represents the faithful element that hides the messengers of higher awareness—your imaginative truth—within the secure house of your inner conviction. When you insist on keeping the 'accursed thing' out of your camp, you prevent the very energy that would harbor fear, doubt, or unworthy images from entering and turning your entire state into a curse. The silver and gold, being consecrated to the LORD, are the priceless beliefs and desires you identify as belonging to the I AM and therefore not to be spent on mere appearances. They are brought into the LORD's treasury, meaning they become usable, directed, and sanctified by awareness, not scattered to the whims of sensation. The external conquest in Joshua mirrors the inner conquest: you take possession of your inner city by refusing to mingle sacred purpose with petty attachments. Your 'camp' rises in harmony when you honor the boundary and consecrate your treasures to the divine I AM, which is your true self.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you are the keeper of a single sacred camp; in quiet imagination, place every cherished thought into the LORD's treasury and feel it consecrated to the I AM. If a stray impulse arises, revise it by declaring, 'this is not mine to possess; it is now the LORD's.'
