Inner Siege of Jericho Within
Joshua 6:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jericho was strictly shut up; no one went out and no one came in, signaling a city under siege.
Neville's Inner Vision
Jericho's walls are not mere stone but a state of mind. The city is closed to new impressions because a current belief about limitation remains active. The 'children of Israel' are your I AM, the awakened awareness moving in consciousness. When life seems blocked, it is not the gate that opposes you but your sense of self in relation to it. The inner siege begins with the awareness that a present circumstance is a fixed impression, not the truth of your being. You do not move the walls by struggle; you shift your state. Decide that your inner state is already free; imagine the gates as open, and feel the certainty that your awareness governs appearances. The Presence of God resides in I AM; through steadfast assumption you enter the city of your own realization. Walls crumble when you accept that your reality reflects your consciousness, not the external form. The siege ends as you acknowledge now, here, that you are where you need to be and that your inner city is under your control.
Practice This Now
Practice now: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine Jericho's gates swinging open inside your mind. Say, 'I am the I AM; this inner city is already open,' and dwell in the feeling of ease until the sense of blockage dissolves.
