Joshua 5:8-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Joshua 5 in context

Scripture Focus

8And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.
9And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.
Joshua 5:8-9

Biblical Context

Joshua 5:8-9 shows the Israelites staying in their camp until they are whole after circumcision, then the LORD declares He has rolled away the reproach of Egypt and renames the place Gilgal.

Neville's Inner Vision

Observe that circumcision here is not a physical ritual but a symbolic cutting away of old identifications. The camp represents your present state of awareness, waiting in stillness until your inner self is made complete. When the Lord says This day I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you, He is announcing a shift in consciousness: the old story of bondage no longer defines you. Gilgal becomes the inner ground of a fresh start, a new state of being where you recognize yourself as clean, whole, and united with the I AM. The journey from Egypt to the Promised Land is accomplished in imagination by a lived decision: refuse the old identity, and dwell in a renewed sense of self. Your healing is not deferred; it is a present fact you enter through inner alignment. Feel the reproach fall away as you align with I AM and claim the new name written on your heart.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit in stillness and consciously assume the truth I AM whole now. See the past reproach dissolve and the name Gilgal stamped on your awareness, and carry this feeling into your day.
