Inner Covenant Renewal

Joshua 5:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Joshua 5 in context

Scripture Focus

7And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way.
8And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.
Joshua 5:7-8

Biblical Context

Joshua completes the circumcision for the new generation, and the people dwell in the camp until they are whole, symbolizing purification and readiness before advancing.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, this scene is a vivid allegory of consciousness at work. The act of circumcision stands for the cutting away of the old self-image—the unwelcome thought that you are separated from your true self—and is accomplished by a resolute, inner decision in the I AM. The people’s waiting in the camp until they are whole marks a period of inward alignment, a pause in outward action while the inward state completes its healing. The new generation, raised up in their stead, represents the new states of consciousness that emerge once the old belief is removed. Covenant loyalty becomes fidelity to the I AM within, not to external ritual; obedience is inner obedience to the truth you admit in imagination. Healing is not hurried; wholeness is your natural condition when you cease projecting lack and begin living from the inner reality that you are already one with God. When you perceive from that state, you enter the promised land in mind and become capable of outward movement from wholeness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, claim, 'I am whole now,' and feel the healing light in your chest. Visualize the old self being removed, and step into the renewed covenant of awareness.
