Crossing the Inner Jordan

Joshua 3:14-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Joshua 3 in context

Scripture Focus

14And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
15And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
Joshua 3:14-15

Biblical Context

People prepare to cross the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark going before them. The priests' feet touch the water's brim as the river overflows its banks.

Neville's Inner Vision

Joshua 3:14-15 speaks not of a geographical crossing but of a crossing of consciousness. The tents are your scattered beliefs; the ark is the I AM presence carrying the covenant of your true nature. When the priests bearing the ark approach the Jordan and dip their feet into the brim, you are making a deliberate inner move into a boundary where old conditions yield to your awake awareness. The Jordan's overflow at harvest time indicates that your subconscious is active and potent, but the moment of crossing is decided by the steadfast motion of awareness that leads the way. The ark goes before you, reminding you that the real guide is your inner recognition of being; faith in that presence parts the current of seeming limitation and reveals the land of promise in your present experience. The covenant loyalty you exercise is loyalty to the one I AM that you are; the moment you acknowledge that, the flood recedes and a new terrain opens.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: close your eyes and imagine you are already on the far shore of your Jordan. Feel the dry ground beneath your feet, carry the ark of awareness in your mind, and silently declare, 'I AM,' until the feeling is real.
