Inner Covenant Crossing
Joshua 24:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 24 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage recalls God delivering Israel from Egypt, darkening oppression and parting the sea, and later guiding them into the land of the Amorites where victory was granted.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the people not as a distant nation but as states of consciousness moving within you. When they cried unto the LORD, the inner God answered by casting darkness between them and the old oppressor—the belief in limitation. The sea that overwhelmed the pursuer is the feeling of separation dissolving as you persist in the imagination that you are free. Your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt—the memory of deliverance is not past but present in your awareness, ready to be repeated the moment you affirm it. The wilderness, that long season, is the space between the old self and the realized self; you dwell there until the new you awakens to its claim. Then I bring you into the land of the Amorites, the state you have chosen in consciousness; the foes you thought formidable fall away as you stand in the certainty of your wealth of being. I gave them into your hand that ye might possess their land; the destruction of them is the clearing of mental debris. You do not venture outward to gain possession—you turn inward and claim your promised land by the strength of imagination and persistent faith in the I AM within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise a moment of oppression as if you are already free. Assume and feel-it-real that you already possess your promised land, right now.
