Choosing the Inner Covenant
Joshua 24:14-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 24 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Joshua calls for reverent fear of the LORD, sincere and truthful service, and a decisive break from former idols; he declares that he and his house will serve the LORD.
Neville's Inner Vision
To fear the LORD in Neville's sense is not trembling before a distant judge, but aligning your I AM with a truth you already know. The command to serve him in sincerity and truth is a call to drop the masquerade of idols—those habits, images, or opinions you have treated as real gods in your inner life. When Joshua says, choose whom you will serve, he speaks to the inner dialog: who will you acknowledge as ruler of your consciousness today? If you listen to the voices of the Amorites, you grant power to former identifications; if you answer with a definitive 'I will serve the LORD,' you close the door to every counterfeit, and your inner sanctuary becomes a dwelling place for the I AM. My house, says the voice within, serves the LORD by refusing distraction and keeping faith with one's true nature—your eternal I AM. This is not external obedience, but an inward allegiance that rearranges your entire inner weather, so that outward events become expressions of a single, unwavering loyalty.
Practice This Now
Practice: In silence, assume the stance, 'I will serve the LORD in sincerity and truth.' See in imagination yourself placing all idols on a shelf and turning your face toward the I AM, feeling the allegiance in your chest.
