Joshua 23:6-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Joshua 23:6-8 exhorts steadfast obedience to the law and warns against idolatry by remaining faithful to the LORD. It calls you to cleave to the inner Lord rather than chase outward gods.
Neville's Inner Vision
Joshua does not request a physical battle alone; he invites a rebirth of consciousness. The book of the law is not a distant code but the inner law written on your heart. To be courageous is to persist in the state of the I AM regardless of outward winds. To keep and do all that is written is to keep faith with your own inner principles, to imagine that your life runs from the inner decree rather than from chance or fear. When he speaks of turning aside to the right or left, he describes the drift of attention toward contrary beliefs or seductive possibilities. The remaining nations are not foreign lands but old thoughts, habits, or identities that linger in your mind; don't mention their gods, don't swear by them, don't serve them, nor bow to them—refuse to empower any belief that competes with your divine awareness. The final line—cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day—becomes a daily, felt decision to dwell in the I AM, to let that inner covenant govern your choices.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I am the I AM, faithful to the inner law.' See yourself walking the covenant path, untouched by distractions, and feel that obedience as your natural state.
