Biblical Context
Joshua 23:6-13 urges courageous fidelity to the Law and warns against intermingling with neighboring nations or worshiping their gods. It also promises divine protection when the people cleave to the LORD and cautions that turning away will bring snares and loss of the land.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within Joshua’s command you read the map of your inner life. Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses becomes for you an invitation to remain steadfast in the inner law of your consciousness. The nations that remain among you are not distant peoples but persistent beliefs and images that would pull you away from your I AM. Do not mention their gods or swear by them; this is the act of refusing identification with any thought that would separate you from the one Life within. Cleave unto the LORD your God, as you have done this day—meaning: cling to the awareness that you are always known by the divine presence within. The LORD has driven out great nations before you; so can you drive out fear by awakening to your inner power. One man of you shall chase a thousand: your unified state of consciousness releases power beyond doubt. Take heed to love the LORD and guard your inner allegiance; otherwise backward steps invite snares and loss of the land.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the feeling of already possessing the land; dwell in unwavering confidence that you cleave to the LORD your God. If doubt arises, revise the thought and feel it-real again, letting the I AM guard your inner state.
