Covenant Idols and Inner Land
Joshua 23:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Plainly, the verse says that breaking the covenant and worshiping other gods brings God's anger and a quick loss of the good land.
Neville's Inner Vision
The covenant is not an external contract but your state of consciousness. When you identify with the belief that 'I am not enough' or that there are many powers, these are the 'gods' you bow to. The LORD you awaken to is kindled by your own attention. The 'land' is the inner kingdom of awareness you inhabit. To transgress is to turn away from the I AM, dividing allegiance among myriad thoughts and fears; thus, you feel separation, and the inner land grows barren. The anger of the LORD is not punishment but the friction of your own shifting attention when you resist your true nature. If you persist in worshiping imagined powers, you push yourself out of the good land, experiencing lack as your reality. But within you lies the power to revoke the idols: assume the truth that the I AM is the only Power; revise every competing 'god' as a mental image and feel the return of the land as your awareness expands.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and repeat: 'I am the I AM; there are no other powers.' Then imagine the inner land brightening as the Presence fills every corner of your awareness.
