Biblical Context
The Jordan marks a border that could divide; the people choose to erect an altar as a witness to shared service to the LORD, ensuring covenant continuity.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the Jordan not as geography but as a line drawn in your own awareness. The border between “us” and “them” in the story is the moment you accept a split belief within: a fragment that fears you have no part in the LORD. The truth, as I teach, is that you are always the I AM, the consciousness that never leaves its witness. The altar they propose is a symbol in imagination—a living sign you present to yourself that you are serving the LORD in every act: the offerings of attention, of harmony, of fidelity. This altar is a witness in your mind that your generations tomorrow will recognize a continuous worship, not a divided ceremony. By mentally erecting such an altar you align every part of your being—the part that fears, the part that hopes, and the part that remembers the covenant—into one service. The Jordan becomes a boundary you willingly cross inward; once you cross it by assumption, fear dissolves and the presence of God, the I AM, remains your natural state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you are already in covenant with all parts of your being. Close your eyes, build the altar in your mind, and feel the unity of worship that includes every aspect of you.
