Inner Cities of Covenant
Joshua 21:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The people recount that the LORD commanded Moses to assign the Levites cities with suburbs. The Israelites give these cities from their inheritance in obedience to the LORD.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the verse as a map of your own interior. The land of Canaan is your consciousness, and Shiloh is the quiet center where awareness abides. The LORD’s command by Moses to give cities to dwell in represents an inner directive: you are being asked to establish stable stations of living within your mind where the function of the Levites—your service, your spiritual faculties—can reside and operate. The inheritance you hold is not material alone but the enduring faculties you carry by awareness. When the children of Israel give unto the Levites these cities and their suburbs, it is your choice to allot energy, attention, and feeling to particular aspects of consciousness at covenant pace. The suburbs are not separate escapes but extending ranges of the same inner city, your expanded capacity to nurture life, law, and unity within. This is not historical geography but the interior geography of submission to the I AM, the present awareness that reorganizes itself to sustain the holy order of your being.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and affirm, 'I am the LORD of my inner land; I command cities to dwell in me.' Then envision distinct inner cities for faith, peace, and service, with suburbs of greater compassion extending outward, and feel the established presence as real in your mind.
