Biblical Context
Levite leaders meet with Eleazar, Joshua, and tribal heads at Shiloh to request cities and suburbs for dwelling and cattle. The people grant them these cities under the LORD's command.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the Levites as the sustaining faculties of your mind rather than a distant tribe. They come as petitioners to your inner priest, the Eleazar- Joshua pair inside you, to present a demand upon the I AM that you are. The LORD’s command, spoken through the inner Moses, is the decision: allocate inner cities where you can dwell in attention, and suburbs to support your life-force. When the inner council grants these cities from your inheritance, you feel that your consciousness is not a barren wilderness but a land under divine law—ordered, purposeful, and safe. The 'cities' symbolize stabilized states of awareness—places where you rest in clarity, compassion, and right action. The 'suburbs' evoke the surrounding fields of energy that nourish daily thoughts and feelings. Covenant loyalty is the conviction that this inner allotment is real because it comes from the divine within you, the Providence that guides you home. As you practice, you can begin by assuming you already inhabit these inner cities and suburbs, and by feeling that you are protected and provided for within the I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume you already inhabit an inner city of your mind—peace and discernment—with a surrounding suburb of daily vitality. Feel it real by affirming, 'This land is given to me by the LORD within, and I dwell here now.'
