Inner Covenant of Mercy
Joshua 2:12-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Rahab pleads for mercy for her family and asks for a token; the spies promise life for hers if she keeps their business secret, and vow to deal kindly with her afterward when the land is given.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider this scene as a map of the inner state. Rahab's kindness is not charity apart from your own consciousness; it is the invitation of your I AM to protect a 'house' within you—the patterns, beliefs, and loves you claim as family. When she says, swear unto me by the LORD, she is naming the unfailing authority of your awareness. The token she asks for is the practical sign by which you will know the new state has taken form: a felt shift in your willingness to protect what you value, not reveal the method to the old reality. The covenant, 'Our life for yours,' is your inner agreement that the old self will be held in abeyance so the new state can live through you. And when the Lord hath given us the land, the promise to deal kindly and truly with thee becomes your daily discipline: after the shift, act from mercy, trust, and loyalty toward your own house and others. The verse teaches that salvation is the nourishment of a committed inner posture, not an external conquest.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and assume the inner covenant is already established; feel the I AM protecting your household as a present reality. Then carry that feeling into your day and act from mercy toward yourself and others.
