Scarlet Thread of Inner Faith
Joshua 2:1-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Joshua sends two spies to Jericho; Rahab hides them and acknowledges the LORD's power, securing a promise of protection for her family, marked by a scarlet cord. The narrative shows faith in action within the mind, leading to outer deliverance.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your land is the state of consciousness you inhabit; Jericho is the stubborn belief that keeps doors closed. Rahab is the hidden faculty of perception that, when it witnesses your intent, covers the truth from the noisy world until the right moment of decision. When she declares that the LORD your God is God in heaven above and in earth beneath, she is naming the one I AM that rules all; she is recognizing the universal consciousness that you too can invoke. The scarlet line she binds in the window is your fixed assumption—the feeling that it is done—that anchors the impression in your inner room where all events originate. The rope by which the spies are lowered represents your disciplined attention to the dream, allowing it to come into view while the outer gates seem to shut. The oath of kindness exchanged with the spies is your inner agreement to protect belief until it proves its own nature. The three days on the mountain are your inner rest, a period for the subconscious to harmonize, after which the land—your goal—appears in consciousness and then in life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling: I have already entered Jericho. See Rahab as your inner ally, bind the scarlet line in the window of your mind, and dwell in the certainty that your desired state is now real; keep this feeling for a moment, then move into quiet to let it settle.
