Inner Cities of Benjamin
Joshua 18:21-28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 18 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage inventories the cities allotted to the tribe of Benjamin, noting twelve cities with their villages and fourteen more as the full inheritance. It marks the outer boundaries of Benjamin's ancestral territory.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider each listed city not as a place on a map, but as a state of consciousness you carry within you. Benjamin’s cities are the inner precincts of your being—the habits, loyalties, and loves you steward by attention. Jericho stands as the old walls of doubt you have not yet demolished; Jerusalem (Jebusi) glows as the enduring realization that you are the land of God where unity and covenant dwell. Each village—Bethhoglah, Zemaraim, Bethel, Ophrah, Gibeon, Mizpeh, Mozah, Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah, Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi’s kin—are not distant towns but feelings, memories, and relationships you cultivate in awareness. The total number of cities becomes a map of your inner inheritance: a complete territory you already possess in consciousness, awaiting your inner declaration that “I am.” Your “tribe” is your own steadfast I AM, the unwavering now that holds the covenant with your desired life. The passage invites you to stop seeking externally and to claim the unity of all these inner settlements as your present experience.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you already possess this inner country; feel the I AM dwelling in every city and the whole land as your present reality. Revise by affirming, 'I am the inheritance I seek, here and now.'
