Biblical Context
These verses describe the northern border of the land, tracing a line from the Jordan up toward Jericho, then toward Luz (Bethel) and nearby landmarks. It reads as a map of boundaries that mirror inner life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the border as the boundary line of your states of consciousness. The north border that runs from Jordan up to Jericho is the journey of awareness from the I AM that flows in you toward the perceived outward world—Jericho, the mind’s city of triumphs and memory. The mountains westward are the impelling forces of thought that rise and demand allegiance; the wilderness of Bethaven, a place of vanity, marks where attention can stray into illusion. Yet the border does not end there. It moves toward Luz, the side of Luz, Bethel—the house of God—where awakening occurs and the mind recognizes its likeness to its source. From Bethel the border descends toward Atarothadar, near the hill by the nether Bethhoron, a boundary between what you accept as real and the higher alignment you claim in the I AM. In truth, these lines signify your covenant with the divine within, a unity forming the kingdom of God in your own consciousness. When you study this border, you are invited to revise your mental map until Bethel becomes your center and every boundary serves your ascent.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe into the I AM, and declare: 'My north border from Jordan to Bethel is now the boundary of my complete awareness; I am one with the I AM.' Then visualize walking along that border, feeling the unified life of your inner kingdom.
