Assembling for Inner Possession
Joshua 18:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 18 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The community gathers at Shiloh, the tabernacle is set, signaling a readiness to move. Seven tribes remain without inheritance, and Joshua asks how long the people will delay possessing what God has promised.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the aware reader, Joshua 18:1–3 is not a history lesson but a map of your inner weather. The whole congregation gathering at Shiloh mirrors the decision of consciousness to take stock of its own realm; the tabernacle set there is your inner sanctuary, the assumed capital of awareness, where the I AM dwells. The land being subdued represents outer conditions yielding to an inner state of faith. The seven tribes still awaiting inheritance signify faculties and possibilities you have not yet named as yours; they wait for your assumption to claim them. Joshua’s question—How long are ye slack to go to possess the land?—is an invitation to stop doubting and to decide. If you would have mountains move and rivers halt, you must consciously affirm that God, your I AM, has already given you the land and that you now possess it by inner treatment. The promised inheritance is not in the future but in your present state of being, awaiting your belief to become experience.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes; imagine the congregation gathered inside you at Shiloh, set the tabernacle of your awareness there, and say quietly: I now possess my promised land. Feel the land subdued in your body as if your desire is already real.
