Inner Borders of Ephraim

Joshua 16:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Joshua 16 in context

Scripture Focus

7And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.
8The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.
Joshua 16:7-8

Biblical Context

It records Ephraim's tribal borders, tracing the land from Janohah to Jericho and on to the sea. The map points to a defined inheritance that also invites us to map inner domains.

Neville's Inner Vision

I see the border from Janohah to the sea as a symbol of the boundary I cast in my own mind. Ephraim’s inheritance becomes the contents of my inner kingdom: a defined territory where loyalty to the covenant—my I AM—binds thoughts, desires, and actions into unity. The borders are not a collection of places, but the conditions of mind that allow my family, my relationships, and my care for others to flourish. To complete this map is to accept responsibility for what I dwell upon; I choose the boundaries that keep the mind fertile, where stewardship and creation care are natural expressions of love. When I imagine the land ending at the sea, I am reminded that the sea is endless possibility, not a limit. The unity of my inner community—the thoughts I share with others—receives its form from this self-imposed boundary. Thus, the inheritance comes not by outward acquisition but by inward fidelity: I am the map, the land, and the law within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and trace the border in your mind from Janohah to the sea, and declare, This is mine to steward under the I AM. Rest in the feeling of unity and fullness.
