Inner Coasts and Covenant Presence
Joshua 16:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 16 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse traces a westward journey along coastal boundaries, symbolizing the soul's outer edges and the inner map of awareness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of Joshua 16:3 as a description of your own inner geography. The map does not record a land but a state of consciousness in which you travel west toward the sea—the edge where form dissolves into awareness. Japhleti, Bethhoron the Nether, Gezer become inner stations: commitments and protections you pass along the route of attention. When you stand at the 'sea' of awareness you acknowledge that the 'goings out' are the movements of your I AM: your present state that defines what you call real. The covenant loyalty is your decision to remain loyal to the sense of I AM that you are. The kingdom and the Presence of God are not distant places you visit, but the experience you realize by inhabiting a state. As you assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled—recognizing that the sea is your consciousness now—you move with ease along the boundaries, knowing that every outward effect is a reflex of an inner consent.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already standing on the edge of your consciousness; revise the scene by declaring, 'I am the I AM, the boundaries are my present realization,' and feel it real.
