Biblical Context

Joshua 15:33-36 lists fourteen cities with their villages in the valley. It presents a geographic record as a symbolic map of inner life.

Neville's Inner Vision

Behold the valley as the theatre of your own consciousness, and the fourteen cities as the many qualities you presently inhabit in the innermost city of your heart. The map in Joshua 15:33–36 is not concerned with a land apart, but with the arrangement of your states of awareness within the I AM. Eshtaol, Zoreah, Ashnah, and the rest are not external places; they are movements of feeling, habits of thought, and forms of imagination that dwell in the valley of your attention. When you name a city, you name a rhythm of life you are choosing to dwell in. You are not seeking to conquer a territory outside; you are returning to the self that assigns meaning to every place. As you rest in the I AM and acknowledge that all these cities exist within you, you consent to the kingdom of God already present as your awareness. The presence of God is not a distant event; it is your own unaltered I AM, here and now, organizing your inner geography.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Name one inner city you wish to claim (for example, Presence). Assume you already possess it now in the valley and feel it real as you rest in the I AM.
