Biblical Context
Moses apportioned land to two and a half tribes beyond the Jordan; the Levites received no inheritance among them, and the tribes of Joseph likewise had no separate plot, only cities and suburbs.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here, the outer chart of land is a mirror of the inner map of states of consciousness. The Levites receive no land because their life is service to the Presence rather than possession of property; their inheritance is city dwellings that signify proximity to awareness, not ownership of soil. The two and a half tribes across Jordan and the two sons of Joseph—Manasseh and Ephraim—illustrate how the mind disperses energy when it does not anchor itself in a fixed stake; thus no separate parcel is yielded. Yet the underlying Covenant remains: all are cherished within the One Presence, and every tribe has a purpose in the divine plan. In your inner world, the non-attachment to land points to the truth that true abundance flows from alignment with God rather than accumulation. Your cities represent daily acts of stewardship—your thoughts, feelings, and habits—that sustain life when lived in harmony with Covenant. By faith and imagination, you awaken to the fact that your inheritance is the Presence you dwell in, and unity with It is the real estate of your soul.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, assume you already dwell in the inner city of awareness. Revise any lack by affirming, 'I AM the Presence, and I possess all that concerns me,' and feel it real.
