Inner Inheritance Of The Promised Land
Joshua 14:1-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 14 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage describes how the tribes inherit land in Canaan by lot under the LORD's command, with the Levites receiving cities but no extensive territory, and the arrangement reflecting obedience to divine direction.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture this: the land of Canaan is my inner state of consciousness. Eleazar, Joshua, and the tribal heads are the carriers of my I AM—my inner ruler who decrees what I shall possess. The lot by which the nine and a half tribes receive their inheritance is the symbol of the inner decree, cast by my deeper self, declaring that my good is measured by inner alignment with divine order, not by outer struggle. The Levites, given cities but no broad territory, represent the service and safeguarding of my faculties—the quiet labor of awareness that keeps the kingdom intact. Moses’ commands and the people's obedience mirror the immutable law within me that directs the distribution of my thoughts and feelings. When I acknowledge this inner order and align with it, I discover my life is already apportioned in harmony with my true nature. I do not strive to obtain; I assume and feel this already; the land becomes present within my consciousness, a lived reality in accord with the inner decree.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling of already possessing your desired inner state. Revise any sense of lack until this inner distribution feels irreversible and present.
