Inner Conquest of Promise
Joshua 13:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God declares a plan to drive out the hill-country inhabitants and to assign the land as an inheritance by lot, under obedience to the command. The surface history mirrors your inner work: remove resistance and claim your portion through faithful obedience.
Neville's Inner Vision
Joshua 13:6 is a map of your inner terrain. The inhabitants of the hill country—from Lebanon to Misrephothmaim—and the Sidonians are not outsiders but states of consciousness—habits of doubt, fear, and lingering hurts that have taken root in your mind. The divine phrase, them will I drive out before the children of Israel, is the dynamic action of your I AM, the awareness that can clear obstructing images. When you assume you are the Israelites within, you align with the intent to liberate, and the old obstacles dissolve as you hold the truth that the land is already yours. To divide it by lot unto the Israelites is a symbol: your life is ordered by the settled conviction of your inner decree, not by chance. Providence and Guidance work in you as you persist in the assumption that the land—the fulfilled state—exists now as part of your being. Obedience and Faithfulness mean staying with the feeling of ownership until the old residents vanish and your inheritance appears as a natural state of consciousness. Deliverance is the liberation from fear by continual belief in the I AM that you are.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: sit in quiet stillness and assume you already inhabit the land promised in Joshua 13:6. Revise doubt as driven out and feel-it-real that you now possess the land.
