Inheriting the Unconquered Land
Joshua 13:2-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
This passage lists the remaining land and commands its division among nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh, with the promise to drive out the inhabitants.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the borders Joshua names as the contours of your inner life. The land that yet remaineth is the unclaimed territory of your consciousness, awaiting your conscious command. The 'five lords of the Philistines' and the other nations symbolize thoughts, fears, and habits that have settled in your mind; to drive them out is to dislodge belief-patterns that block your instincts to create. By lot, and only by command of the I AM, you appoint the nine tribes and the half tribe to govern parts of yourself—memory, imagination, will, faith, perception, feeling, and more—recognizing that your powers are not scattered but organized by your inner decree. When you decide and act from the state you desire, the land becomes your inheritance; the boundary lines align with faith and obedience. The blessing is that this inheritance is prepared and waiting within, and your present awareness is the act of possession.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In this moment, assume the entire land is mine; feel it real by imagining the nine faculties granted to me and the half-tribe of Manasseh running as cooperative stewards. Then revise any sense of lack by resting in that state for a few breaths.
