Biblical Context
Joshua 13:12-13 narrates Israel's conquest of Og's kingdom but notes that not all adversaries were expelled. Remnants linger among the people.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine Joshua as the I AM in you, awakening to claim the land of your mind. Og’s kingdom is a colossal belief or habit you have treated as real—an inner giant rooted in fear, doubt, or pride. The act of Moses smiting and casting them out points to using imagination with decisive inner authority to withdraw such power from your life. Yet the record also teaches a subtler law: the Geshurites and Maachathites remain, dwelling among the Israelites. In consciousness terms, remnants are those persistent thoughts and patterns you tolerate, habits you call manageable, while still ruling your days. You may feel a victory when you see the giants fall, but until every lingering belief is addressed, these shadows operate from within, shaping choices and self-image. The Kingdom of God here is a present living state—not distant conquest—reached by revision and the feeling-it-real. When you consistently insist that the I AM is the sole ruler of your mind, you clear the inner land until no remnant remains, and your outer life reflects complete inward conquest.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and, in your mind, visualize the land of your consciousness cleared of lingering giants; declare, 'I have expelled all remnants,' and feel the truth of that statement as the I AM.
