Joshua is old and stricken in years. It says there remains much land to be possessed.

Neville's Inner Vision

Joshua is a state of consciousness, not a man marching toward a distant land. The verse speaks of Joshua as old and stricken in years, and yet it voices the inner invitation that there remains yet very much land to be possessed. In Neville’s psychology, aging is not decay but the density of unclaimed territories within—habits, beliefs, loyalties that have not yet bowed to the I AM. The land to be possessed symbolizes the patterns of thought and feeling that rule your world and crave a clear assumption. To possess them is to renew covenant loyalty with the I AM, to refuse to bargain with limitation. Faith is not hoping for something outside; it is the conviction that what you desire already exists in consciousness and can be drawn forth by a vivid imagination. The Lord’s command becomes a directive to revise your inner map: let fear fall away, let courage arise, and feel, here and now, that you already stand on the land you seek. When you assume the completed state—land already conquered—you align with the I AM, and outer life follows. The aging body then signals a living invitation, not a verdict, to continue the joyful task of creation.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume the I AM is already the ruler of your inner land. As you breathe, feel specific areas of your life as already possessed—health, purpose, and harmonious relationships—so real they shape your next moment.
