Joshua 12:16-19

Biblical Context

Joshua 12:16-19 lists the kings of Makkedah, Bethel, Tappuah, Hepher, Aphek, Lasharon, Madon, and Hazor. It marks the continuation of Joshua’s conquest by enumerating the rulers of these cities.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine that the names on Joshua’s list are not places apart from you but aspects of your own awareness. Each king represents a habit, fear, or claim of power you have allowed to rule a corner of your mind. The central plateau and lowland cities speak of levels of consciousness you travel by in daily life; when you identify with the I AM here, all these kings bow to your sovereign feeling. The Kingdom of God is not a distant realm but the state of being that arises when you regard yourself as the government within. Kingship and authority become practical psychology: you do not compel others but align your inner governors with justice and righteousness by imagining your awareness as King, not a victim of circumstance. As you revise and feel it real, you shift the inner weather: those kings lose their claim, and your awareness asserts itself as the one ruler whose rulings are benevolent and true. In this light, every line of Joshua 12:16-19 becomes a note in the vibration of your I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes, enter your inner landscape, and audibly or silently state, 'I AM King here.' Then walk the inner streets of Makkedah, Bethel, Tappuah, Hepher, Aphek, Lasharon, Madon, and Hazor, and declare sovereignty over each. Feel the authority of your I AM settling the scene as justice and harmony.
