Inner Covenant, Outer Peace

Joshua 11:19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Joshua 11 in context

Scripture Focus

19There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
Joshua 11:19

Biblical Context

Only the Hivites of Gibeon made peace with Israel; all other cities Israel conquered by battle.

Neville's Inner Vision

Joshua's battlefield is your psyche. Israel stands for your I AM, the indwelling awareness that is awake to the final state. The text tells us there was no city that made peace with Israel except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon; all the rest they took by battle. This is not history but a map of your mind: peace comes to the parts that have surrendered to the one ruling consciousness, covenant loyalty to the I AM. The Gibeonites represent the loyal facets of self that consent to one judgment, one king. When that covenant is planted in imagination, it changes the atmosphere of your entire inner town. The other factions continue to reappear as if under siege, yet the moment you dwell in the awareness that you are already whole, you revise every belief, every feeling, until the inner war subsides. Obedience, faithfulness, and trust arise as natural expressions of your new state, and Shalom flows as a calm, confident action in life. The battlefield dissolves into homecoming; your outer world follows the inner treaty into peace.

Practice This Now

Assume the inner treaty now: declare I am the I AM; every part of my mind is at peace with this unity, and feel it real.
