Pursuit Of Inner Victory
Joshua 10:19-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 10 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage commands relentless pursuit of inner enemies until they are defeated, followed by rest within fortified inner cities.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the I AM that you are, the command to pursue is a command to pursue your own eroding states—fear, doubt, and the lack that have kept your life in thrall. The hindmost is the last vestige of resistance, that stubborn thought or habit you still allow to govern your mood. When the verse says the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand, hear it as the inner decree: God is awareness, and you hold the authority to vanquish every thought that would enter your mental city and claim dominion there. There is no external victory outside consciousness; the great slaughter represents shedding the old identity as you identify with the new state you have imagined. As you press forward, do not abandon compassion, but do not permit hesitation to re-enter your mind. When the battle ends, the rest and fenced cities become your steady state of Being—guarded by your unwavering I AM, a city of peace ready to receive the life you have deliberate imagined.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and assume the feeling, 'I AM victorious over all inner enemies.' Then see the hindmost fear dissolve and you enter the fenced city of rest, fully present as the observer of your new state.
