Inner Joshua: Law and Courage
Joshua 1:8-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage teaches to keep the command in mind and on the lips, to meditate and act according to it, promising prosperity and good success. It then commands strength, courage, and trust that God is with you wherever you go.
Neville's Inner Vision
You are the I AM that never sleeps, the awareness in which all images rise and fade. The phrase 'this book of the law' is not a distant scroll, but the inner decree that governs your being. When you let that decree not depart out of thy mouth inhabit your lips, you are training your imagination to speak from absolute truth; to meditate therein day and night is to dwell in that truth until it becomes your weather and your will. Observe to do according to all that is written therein means align every act of your life with the principle you have accepted. Then your way shall be prosperous, and you shall have good success, for prosperity follows the consistency of consciousness. Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Translate this as: the I AM within you is with you wherever you go. Your present experience is the echo of your inner atmosphere. When you believe, speak, and act from that state, fear dissolves, and courage becomes your natural response.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume you are already governed by the inner law. Tonight, repeat the decree, 'The I AM within me guides my steps,' and feel it real by imagining your next day moving in harmony with that inner law.
