Inner Strength and Courage
Joshua 1:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God commands strength, courage, and faithful obedience to the law. It promises prosperity because the inner law is constantly in view and God is with you.
Neville's Inner Vision
Joshua is not a distant commander; he is your present state of consciousness. The command to be strong and very courageous is a directive to inhabit a certain inner self, a proven I AM that refuses fear and wavering belief. The 'law' Moses commanded is the inner principle you accept as your identity—the standard you live by in every moment. Do not turn from it to the right or left; this is the discipline of concentration, keeping your attention fixed on the inner decree until it becomes your behavior and your world. When you meditate day and night, you are rehearsing your feeling-tone until your outer circumstances reflect that persistent state. Prosperity and good success are the natural events that follow a mind at peace with its governing law. The promise 'the LORD thy God is with thee' is the assurance that consciousness itself is operative, that you are not alone but are attended by your own awareness. Stand in that presence, and every path you walk is made safe and blessed by the inner covenant you keep.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, place your hand on your heart, and declare: I AM strong and courageous; I keep the inner law as my standard. Then, imagine moving through your day with the sense that God's presence accompanies every step, and feel the prosperity that follows.
