Inner Courage for Divine Inheritance
Joshua 1:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God commands Joshua to be strong and courageous because he will lead the people to inherit the land promised to their fathers. The verse links courage with covenant faithfulness and divine promises.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the inner man, 'Be strong and of a good courage' is a call to steady the attention and lift the vision. The land to be inherited is not a geographical map but a state of consciousness you awaken by inward agreement with the I AM. The 'unto this people' speaks to the dynamic you are shepherding within—your present sense of self—so that you may divide your inner landscape into places that reflect the actuality of your wish. 'The land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them' points to a covenant kept in your own consciousness; the promise is kept in your own awareness as you align with the truth that God, your I AM, has already granted your desire. Courage, then, is not the absence of fear but the establishment of a mental atmosphere in which even fear serves your aim. When you imagine from the end, you fulfill the covenant; the promise becomes present-tense experience because imagination creates reality.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, align with the I AM within, and affirm 'I am strong and courageous now.' See yourself walking the inner land you claim as your inheritance, letting the old fear dissolve into light.
