Footsteps of Inner Possession
Joshua 1:3-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage promises that every place Joshua steps will be given by God; God will be with him and will never forsake him.
Neville's Inner Vision
Joshua 1:3-5 is not about geography alone; it is a guide to consciousness. The foot you place in the imagination is the boundary you are ready to own. 'Every place the sole of your foot shall tread upon' means you can take possession of any state you desire by assuming it. 'I have given unto you' is the assurance that the I AM within is already supplying the condition you claim. The 'coast' extends from the wilderness of limitation to the sea of completion; your awareness expands as you persist. 'There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life' becomes: no outer circumstance can withstand your inner conviction when you know God is with you. The parallel to Moses is not a lineage but a demonstration: the same I AM that was with Moses is now with you, in you, as you choose to dwell in a certain mental state. Practice faith by stepping into the imagined land, and feel the steady, unwavering companionship of the divine presence.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, in imagination, walk the space you want to own until every detail confirms your right to be there. Then say softly, 'This land is mine now, for the I AM is with me.'
