Footsteps of Inner Possession
Joshua 1:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God declares that every place you tread is already given to you; the land is a metaphor for the mind in faithful obedience. It invites you to trust and align your inner states with possession.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your 'land' is the landscape of your mind. The instruction, 'every place your foot shall tread,' says you are to assume, now, that you stand in possession wherever you mentally go. The I AM within you is the grantor; it has already given the territory as promised. Obedience is not obedience to a distant rule but alignment of your inner state with the reality you intend. When you act from certainty—feeling as if you already possess the place—you dissolve doubt and unlock the power of providence to guide your steps. Each thought, each feeling of arrival, each quiet conviction that the next step is yours, is a footfall on the sacred ground of your consciousness. The 'land' is not a map of geography but a map of state: faith, trust, loyalty, and expectancy. Do not beg for what is yours; revise your sense of lack and dwell in the feeling of accomplished possession. Your inner covenant is kept; your outer life will reflect the due results in due time, as you walk in alignment with your I AM and your faithful imagination.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes, mentally walk across a landscape that represents your goal, and affirm, 'I am in possession now.' Feel the ground under your foot as if the attainment is already real.
